Data Butler (databutler.dev) is a free service that gives AI assistants and people verified reference data over REST and MCP. Using it means accepting these terms. They are short on purpose.

What you can do

• Call the API and the MCP servers, from any client, without an account or key.
• Quote and republish answers, with a link to the answer's cite.url or to databutler.dev.
• Use the data commercially, subject to each figure's upstream licence, which every answer names (for example the Open Government Licence for gov.uk figures, Licence Ouverte for French data, MIT for endoflife.date).

What you should not do

• Send load meant to degrade the service, or probe it for vulnerabilities without permission. Excessive automated traffic may be rate-limited or blocked.
• Present an answer as advice. Tax, salary, exam, recall and rate figures are reference data, not financial, legal or professional advice.

Accuracy and liability

Every figure is checked against the official source named in its answer, carries the date it was verified, and is flagged due or overdue when it may be out of date. Even so, the service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Check the official source before relying on a figure for a decision. To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for loss arising from use of the service.

Changes and availability

Tools and endpoints may change or be withdrawn; URLs and tool names that are published are kept stable wherever possible. These terms may be updated; the date below changes when they do.
